Heale Gardens

13th February 2020

At lunchtime, the rain finally stopped so I popped over to the gardens at Heale House to see the snowdrops and enjoy a walk along the River Avon. The weather has been so warm that although the snowdrops are nearly over there are numerous spring flowers emerging including yellow aconites with their green ruffles, daffodils, iris unguicularis, cyclamen, helleborus and the delicious smell of Sarcococca confusa nearer the house. The Snowdrop Walk takes you past the north of the house with the formal terrace laid out by Harold Peto – enjoy it as this is the only time of year when this area of the garden is open.

The gardens are open for snowdrops until this Sunday 16th – if you are visiting, wear gumboots as the grass paths are extremely muddy.
